2019 Estate Grown Chardonnay

Selected estate vineyards: HVD planted in 1984 and NVC planted in 1980

Parcels of fruit from the HVD and NVC vineyards were selected in order to get the richness and finesse that we were looking to bring to this wine. Our Estate Grown Chardonnays will always be basket pressed and matured in French oak puncheons, and this wine from the excellent 2019 vintage rested for eight months in one-year-old wood. The 2019 Estate Grown Chardonnay offers nutty cashew and grapefruit aromas, and a generously rounded, fruit-driven mid-palate. A linear oyster shell finish, vibrant, leaves you ready for the next mouthful. This is a moreish and truly satisfying Chardonnay.

Alc.: 12.5%

90 Points | Huon Hooke, The Real Review

Bright, light to mid-yellow colour, with a creamy yeast-lees aroma tinged with smoky sulfides. The palate is restrained, light-bodied and soft, approachable now and nicely balanced. It falls away a little quickly but is a very good wine in its station. A new wine in the Tyrrell portfolio.

Plenty of funk and matchstick, white peach, lime, a little spiced biscuit and vanilla oak. Flavoursome but fine, a little bit of grip, the ‘lime spider’ flavour is here, in classic Tyrrell’s style, and the finish is pretty long, sweetly succulent and laced with smokey and flinty texture. Lovely drink here.
