Our Vat 1 Semillon is only ever made using fruit from our best old-vine, dry-grown vineyards. The centrepiece is always our Short Flat vineyard, where the oldest plantings date back to 1923. The soil profile in this dry-grown vineyard is unlike that of any of our other vineyards, providing the Vat 1 with its amazing length and depth of fruit.
The fruit was hand-picked in perfect condition before being lightly pressed. The free-run juice was then fermented at cool temperatures in stainless-steel tanks, where the wine stayed until bottling. The pitch-perfect nose jumps out of the glass, showing a lifted floral character with a hint of citrus. The palate has great depth and power, yet maintains its elegance through the finish, with a softer acid profile giving the wine great balance. This is a textbook Vat 1 with the exceptional length and balance only seen in great vintages; it will live as long as you are willing to keep it. Available exclusively to our Private Bin members.
