Tyrrell’s shines at major wine shows

Tyrrell’s Wines continues to fill the trophy cabinet with outstanding wins at the 2011 Hobart International Wine Show and 2011 Dan Murphy’s National Wine Show of Australia.

Standouts from the shows were the 2006 Vat 1 Semillon and the 2005 HVD Semillon which both picked up trophies.

The 2006 Vat 1 Semillon won the 9/11 Trophy for the Best White Wine of the Show (other than Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Riesling). This is the eighth year out of nine that Tyrrell’s has won this particular trophy, with a miss in 2008 courtesy of Tyrrell’s Chief Winemaker, Andrew Spinaze, who forgot to put the entries in for that year.

At the National Wine Show, the 2005 HVD Semillon picked up The Semillon Trophy for the best semillon of the show and Tyrrell’s semillons continued their golden run with the 2004 and 2006 Vat 1 Semillon and 2006 Belford Semillon all collecting a gold medal.
