Heathcote

In 1994 Bruce Tyrrell took a leap of faith and bought 32 hectares of bare farmland on the eastern slope of the Mount Camel range, about 25 kilometres north of the town of Heathcote in Victoria. The parcel of land is situated on a vein of ancient and fertile deep-red Cambrian soil that’s unique to the area and, most importantly, is perfect for growing high-quality Shiraz. The climate in this winegrowing region is different to that of our native Hunter with higher elevation and cooler night time temperatures. These conditions combined with the highly prized Cambrian soil produce full-bodied Shiraz grapes with dark-fruit characters, white pepper spice, excellent acidity and fine-grained tannins.
