
Financial Controller
An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced financial controller to join and lead the finance team of the well-established Tyrrell’s Wines.
Established by Edward Tyrrell in 1858, Tyrrell’s is one of Australia’s pre-eminent family-owned wine companies and is home to some of Australia’s most awarded wines. Having lived and breathed wine growing and winemaking in the Hunter Valley for more than 160 years, Tyrrell’s have amassed an unrivalled knowledge of what makes the Hunter one of Australia’s, and indeed the world’s, greatest winegrowing regions.
About the role
With an immediate team of 7 long-term, experienced administrative and accounts staff, in addition to a wider team of approximately 60+ on site employees. Tyrrell’s are searching for a Financial Controller to take on the overall responsibility for the financial management of the company. This position is based at our Hunter Valley Winery in Pokolbin.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing financial information, reports and advice to management and external parties.
- Day to day financial and cash flow management, including payment of creditors, daily dealings with financiers, loan submissions and foreign exchange transactions.
- Preparation of monthly, annual financial statements and bank reports.
- Deliver accurate timely reporting to management.
- Co-ordinate the financial preparation and presentation of the budgets.
- Management of company insurances.
- Providing advice on income generation, expenditure, and cash control.
- Working with all levels of management up to Board level to help identify areas of improvement.
The successful candidate will possess
- Degree qualification in accounting with CPA accreditation.
- 5+ years practical experience in a chartered or commercial accounting role.
- High proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- Up-to-date knowledge of the accounting standards and taxation reporting requirements.
- Strong ability to work effectively as a member of both a management team and a functional team.
